For Every Living Creature             -Anonymous

 

May I be a protector to those without protection,

A leader for those who journey,

And a boat, a bridge, a passage,

For those desiring the further shore.

 

May the pain of every living creature

Be completely cleared away.

 

May I be the doctor and the medicine

Any may I be the nurse

For all sick beings in the world

Until everyone is healed.

 

Just like space

And the great elements such as earth,

May I always support life

Of all the boundless creatures.

 

And until they pass away from pain

May I also be the source of life

For all the realms of varied beings

That reach unto the ends of space

The Prayer for the Animals

Hear our humble prayer, Oh God, for our friends the animals, especially for animals who are suffering, for any that are hunted or lost or deserted or frightened or hungry, and for all that must be put to death. We entreat for them all they mercy and pity, and for those who deal with them we ask a heart of compassion and gentle hands and kindly words. Make us, ourselves, to be true friends to animal…and so to share the blessings of the merciful.
